Ransomware has a negative impact on your business operation and worst scenario is losing your SAP data.

 

These are immediate actions:

  1. Please make sure you have onsite and offsite backup of your server instance, that is a snapshot of the entire server to be restored, in case of disaster. 
  2. Please make sure you have onsite and offsite backup of your SAP company database. Worst scenario if your SAP Server cannot be recovered, you can rebuild the SAP system and recover the data. 
  3. Please do not leave your PC unattended or logon over-night after working hours. There are tools in the internet that exploit and attempt to logon your PC with random passwords.   
  4. Please don’t click or open suspicious emails and/or website. 
  5. Please make sure you do not share your user Id and password. Please request IT to trigger reset password at least every 60 days. 
  6. Please implement domain users complex password with minimum 10 characters include number and symbol for, do not use simple password that can be easily hacked.
  7. Please create a new Domain Group 'SAP Users' and include only SAP users for access to SAP B1_SHR shared folder. B1_SHR folder has full access that is easy target for ransomware.
  8. Please ensure remote access to your server are protected with firewall and antivirus. 

 

There is only 1 way to recover from ransomware, that is to restore from the last clean backup. Paying to the attacker will not necessary recover your data.
